Ord House

The residential Weekend and Extended workshops are based within the sumptuous 5-star accomodation of Ord House, a magnificent Georgian country house within 18 acres of grounds and overlooking Loch Eishort across to the jagged peaks of the Cuillin and south to the isles of Canna and Rhum.

Ord house has a feeling of remoteness being four miles down a single track road but it is also convenient for the oustanding locations of Ord beach, Tokavavig, Tarskavaig, and Achnacloich which have some of the most splendid, unspoilt bays on Skye where whales, dolphins, otters and seals may be found.

Ord House is situated on the edge of the Coille Thogabhaig National Nature Reserve where otters, red deer and golden eagles are regularly seen. The house has its own slip way, shore road and beach which is a site of special scientific interest for its flora and geology. The bay offers safe swimming, snorkelling, wonderful sailing, kayaking and boating opportunities.

Ord House has recently been restored to its original character and charm while being sensitive to the ecological requirements of 21st Century living. Today guests may relax by log fires and enjoy organic dining watching the changing light over the sea and mountains.

All meals at the house are freshly prepared using organic seasonal produce when available and special diets are catered for by prior notice. Please note that Ord House has a non-smoking policy.

The emphasis is on style and comfort, each room having flat screen TV, radio and DVD, (a library of films are available to borrow during your stay), hospitality tray with organic and fair trade beverages, hair dryer, hot water bottles and fresh flowers.

Ord House is a private home that provides for its guests a place of sanctuary and retreat from the stresses and strains of everyday life.
